Jon Van Dyke Archival Collection
March 22, 12:00pm - 1:15pmMānoa Campus, Kuykendall 409
What can we learn from the archives of Jon Van Dyke? He was a Constitutional Law Professor who taught at the William S. Richardson School of Law, until his passing in 2011. Within his papers are research materials regarding legal advocacies for Kanaka Maoli Sovereignty and the Crown Lands, compensation of Filipino citizens abused under the Ferdinand Marcos regime, territorial rights of Islanders in the CNMI, Guam, American Samoa and Palau, as well as research materials and writings on how to protect the Pacific Ocean from nuclear waste disposal. Within these papers are an action oriented history of Pacific based social movements that serve as precedents to contemporary issues that affect us today.
