Michael Hallstone

Michael Hallstone is an assistant professor of justice administration at . Hallstone is a dynamic teacher who is in tune with his students. He believes in challenging them and raising the bar, and strives to make them active participants in the learning process. In addition to classroom teaching, he put several courses online to better serve his students.
Apart from teaching, and his research and publication efforts focusing on the U.S. drug problem, Hallstone maintains a heavy schedule of advising more than 40 students every semester. He cares about his students and is always willing to provide encouragement. Active in department and campus activities, Hallstone serves as vice-chair of the 51²è¹ÝWO faculty senate.
The Frances Davis Award for Undergraduate Teaching recognizes dedication and demonstrated excellence as teachers of undergraduate students. It was established as a memorial to the late Frances Davis, who taught mathematics at Leeward Community College and 51²è¹Ý Manoa for 19 years.
