May 10, 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Mānoa Campus, Halau o Haumea, Kamakakuokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies
The 1978 constitutional convention had a profound impact on Hawaiʻi. As we consider a 2018 vote on a new constitutional convention, John Waiheʻe III (delegate and governor) is leading a series of critical dialogues on the past and future impacts of Hawaiʻi’s 1978 constitutional convention, bringing together delegates, scholars and community leaders. This dialogue focuses on how the 1978 constitution explores the connections between the con-con and the movement toward restoration of self-government.
Opening remarks will be by Gov. John WaiheÊ»e III, with panel responses to follow by: Jocelyn Doane, Office of Hawaiian Affairs; Ilima Long, 51 MÄnoa Native Hawaiian Student Services.
