Talk on Instructional Models for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)
November 19, 2:30pm - 4:00pmMānoa Campus, Andrew In College Collaboration Center, Wist Hall
Since the concept of ‘Sustainable Development (SD)’ was first mentioned at the UN Conference on the Human Environment in 1972 and endorsed at the UN General Assembly in 1987, it has become apparent that education is the key to achieving sustainable development, and that education should be reoriented towards a sustainable future. Dr. Yeon-A Son will share insights from her research in developing the Social Problem Solving-ESD (SPS-ESD) Instructional Models that address a variety of social problems and issues closely related within communities. Dr. Son is an associate professor of science education at Dankook University in Korea. She is currently a visiting scholar at the College of Education.
