Join us for a screening of "Call Her Ganda" and a Panel Discussion on Militarization, Sexual Violence, and Sovereignty in the Pacific

The 2016 murder of transgender prostitute Jennifer Laude by a 19-year old U.S. Marine in the Philippines sent shockwaves around the world. Call Her Ganda is an award-winning 2018 documentary about the murder case by filmmaker PJ Raval that has appeared at the Tribeca Film Festival, San Francisco International LGBTQ Film Festival, and the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. The film will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Atty. Virginia Suarez Lacsa, the lawyer for the Laude family, Joseph Michael R. de Jesus, National Spokesperson for True Colors Coalition & Yvonne Mahelona from Af3irm Hawai'i.

The event is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served.
