MÄÂlama aku, mÄÂlama maiâ€â€care is given, and care is received. The Hawaiian concept of mÄÂlama relates to caring for, maintaining, and supporting one another. When we mÄÂlama the communities where we work, our work is deepened and enriched. This third and final workshop in the “Place Based Research Matters†series will cover strategies for deepening established relationship between researchers and community. The format will center around small group discussions with “faculty catalysts†with expertise in community engagement and place-based research.
Topics covered during this workshop will include:
- Promoting co-learning and co-development through each stage of the research process
- Navigating knowledge ownership and access
- Identifying and resolving problems and misunderstandings as they arise
