Te Reo Wainene O Tua (The Sweet Story of Yester-year)
November 3, 5:30pm - 7:00pmMānoa Campus, HĂÂlau o Haumea, Center for Hawaiian Studies
Te Reo Wainene o Tua (TRWOT) is an innovative te Reo MĂÂori storytelling kaupapa that brings together a collective of high profile te Reo MĂÂori (MĂÂori Language) advocates and parents. Honoring the deep genealogical connections between the Tangata MĂÂori and Kanaka Maoli, TRWOT has embarked on their first international collaboration to HawaiââŹËi as part of the Creative New Zealand International Indigenous Art Form Exchange 2015. TRWOT imparts history and MĂÂtauranga MĂÂori about their tupuna and culture through the traditional oral art form of storytelling in te Reo MĂÂori. They strive to create career pathways and mentoring opportunities for rangatahi that are interested in this particular art form. They encourage teachers and educators to attend their workshops, as they believe storytelling methods and thought processes have educational benefits for the tamariki and rangtahi. Join us as they share their kaupapa in an evening of storytelling and dialogue.
